#ImprovingLives

Giving back to local communities has been a commitment of Davis & Shirtliff since its founding in 1946...

Eshikomere girls is a Boarding school situated in Butere Sub County, Kakamega County. It has a population of 680 girls .The School had no access to water save for a stream 2 kms away. Pupils were required to make the trek to the stream to fetch water for their daily use. As expected, pupil enrollment as well as academic performance greatly suffered.

Other issues such as student indiscipline and conflict with community members can also be directly traced back to the lack of access to a clean and convenient source of water. All of these negative effects stemming from the lack of access to water, can so easily change the direction of a pupil’s life. Davis and Shirtliff, through its #ImprovingLives Initiative has donated and installed a Dayliff Sunflo solar pumping system to the school. The pumping system has been installed right in the school’s compound eliminating the need to make the frequent and time consuming walks to fetch water.
